Split A Tab is operated by [LEGAL_ENTITY]. The service helps groups split a restaurant receipt by photo, available on the web at splitatab.com and as an iOS app.
We use this data to render the receipt parser, run the splitting math, sync your tabs across devices, and prevent abuse. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
We rely on the following processors to operate the service. When you upload a receipt, the image may be sent to any or all of our AI providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google) for structured-data extraction. We do not send your phone number, name, Venmo handle, or any other account information along with the image — the only data those providers see is whatever appears in the image itself.
Receipt image, used to extract restaurant name, items, prices, and totals.
Privacy policyReceipt image sent to Gemini for structured-data extraction. Phone number for Firebase Authentication. Tab data and receipt images for Firestore and Cloud Storage. FCM is used for push notification delivery.
Privacy policyHosting and edge delivery. Vercel Analytics records aggregate, anonymous traffic data (no per-user identifiers).
Privacy policyProduct analytics events tied to your account ID after sign-in (e.g. tab created, item claimed, errors). Used to measure feature usage and reliability.
Privacy policyLinking a Venmo handle to your account is optional. If you choose to add one, the “Pay” button on a tab will open Venmo (or its website) with the recipient’s handle prefilled — we do not move money or share data with Venmo. If you use Venmo, your use of that service is governed by Venmo’s own terms, which require you to be at least 18 years old.
We use a sign-in session cookie to keep you logged in. We also store a small amount of data on your device (your name, Venmo handle, and a randomly generated identifier) so you stay recognized between visits without having to sign in.
Receipt images are retained for at least 30 days. We may retain your account, tabs, and receipt images indefinitely until you delete your account. Deleting your account is the way to remove this data — see “Your rights” below.
You can delete your account at any time from the “Settings” tab on the account screen, on either web or iOS. For other CCPA/GDPR-style requests (access, correction, portability), email [PRIVACY_CONTACT_EMAIL].
When you delete your account, the following happens:
Split A Tab is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Your data may be processed in the United States by our hosting and AI processors (including Vercel, Firebase, Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google).
We will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page when this policy changes. Material changes will be highlighted in-app.
